Setting sail on a Royal Caribbean cruise to Bermuda for five nights was an adventure filled with stunning views, exciting activities, and moments of pure relaxation. This trip offered a perfect balance of exploration and comfort, making it a pretty remarkable getaway. Here’s our thoughts on what made this cruise so special and why it could be the ideal vacation for anyone looking to combine luxury with island charm.

Boarding and Setting Sail

The journey began at the Baltimore cruise terminal. Royal Caribbean’s efficient boarding process made it easy to get on board without stress. Once on the ship, the first thing that caught my attention was the impressive design and spaciousness of the ship. It felt like a floating resort, with plenty of places to explore and unwind. We sailed on the Vision of the Seas. I also recommend trying to get an early boarding time, this allows you more time on the ship before setting sail.

Life Onboard: Activities and Dining

Royal Caribbean offers a wide range of activities to keep passengers entertained throughout the cruise. From the moment we stepped on board, there was never a dull moment. Here are some highlights:

  • Pools and Sun Decks: Multiple pools and hot tubs provided perfect spots to relax or socialize. The sun decks offered panoramic ocean views that were ideal for soaking up the sun. We loved spending time in the Solarium (adult only area).

  • Fitness and Wellness: For those who want to stay active, the fitness center was well-equipped, and there were yoga classes available on the open deck. We always enjoy the walking track around the ship.

  • Entertainment: Each evening featured live shows, including Broadway-style performances and comedy acts. The theater was comfortable and well-designed, making the experience enjoyable. Watching the shows is a perfect after dinner activity.

  • Excursions and Workshops: The ship hosted cooking classes and art workshops, which added a creative touch to the trip. Don't miss all the trivia - it's our favorite!

Dining was another highlight. Royal Caribbean’s variety of restaurants meant there was something for every taste. From casual buffets to elegant dining rooms, the food was consistently delicious. I particularly enjoyed the fresh seafood options and the themed dinner nights that added excitement to each meal. We enjoy getting a little dressed up for dinner in the Main Dining Room. If you don't, you can always eat in The Windjammer. Don't forget the ICE CREAM!!! It's also nice to eat outside on the pool deck - wonderful views of the ocean.

Exploring Bermuda’s Beauty

The cruise included stops at Bermuda’s most iconic locations, allowing time to explore the island’s unique charm. Bermuda’s pink sand beaches and crystal-clear waters were even more stunning in person. We had an overnight dock in Bermuda.

At the main port, we took a short boat to Hamilton. The guide was full of information about the island. I personally love a good history tour. Once in Hamilton, we did some shopping and ate at a local restaurant. We love trying our the local cuisine in any city.

Because we has an overnight dock, we were able to head back to the ship for dinner and an outfit change, then head back out for a night time excursion. We chose a glassbottom boat. This was something we had never done before. We cruised around the island and got to see a sunken ship.

The next morning we got up early for a catamaran excursion. We cruised to the other side of the island for a morning of snorkeling. I will admit, the water was cold - but we still had a great time snorkeling.

Comfort and Service

What stood out most during the cruise was the level of comfort and service. The stateroom was cozy and well-maintained. We opted for a guarantee interior cabin this cruise. This means Royal chooses the cabin for us. This is usually a cheaper rate than choosing yoiur own cabin. We knew is was risky, but we had a great cabin location on deck four. It was convienent to everythign. Housekeeping was attentive, ensuring the room was always clean and welcoming.

The crew members were friendly and approachable, always ready to assist with any request. Whether it was helping with excursion bookings or offering recommendations for dining, their professionalism enhanced the overall experience. We also took advantage of the internet package - at one point, it stopped working and the internet help desk was so helpful and got it back working.

Tips for Future Travelers

If you’re considering a Bermuda cruise with Royal Caribbean, here are some practical tips to make the most of your trip:

  • Pack light but include beach essentials: Sunscreen, swimwear, and comfortable walking shoes are must-haves.

  • Book excursions early: Popular tours can fill up quickly. If you don't get the excursion you want-keep checking back, sometimes more spots open up. Book through the cruise line, it's the only way to guarantee you make it back to the ship on time.

  • Try different dining options: Don’t miss the specialty restaurants for a unique culinary experience. If you don'tt feel like eating in the main dining room for dinner - the Windjammer has great options as well.

  • Take advantage of onboard activities: From fitness classes to evening shows, there’s plenty to enjoy without leaving the ship.

  • Plan some downtime: Balance busy days with moments of relaxation on the deck or in the spa. We enjoy a good game of cards or a board game.
